Children visit residents of High Peak Lodge

High Peak Lodge Residential and Nursing Home, in Leigh, welcomed children from a local nursery school who dropped in to see us.

We have forged a new partnership that will see monthly visits from pre-schoolers aged three and four.

On their first trip to the home with nursery staff, the children brought gifts for the residents and sang songs for us.

Our manager, Tina, said: “Young children are so confident, curious and fearless when it comes to making friends with people of other generations.

“The residents were so happy to welcome them – and it was great to see them chatting and getting on so well. We’re already looking forward to next time.”

Two pupils and two teachers from nearby St Thomas C of E Primary School also visited High Peak Lodge, to deliver food hampers to the residents.

The surprise gifts came after one of our domestic staff, who has a son at the school, nominated us as a good cause to receive such donations.

The residents were delighted to be handed beautifully-wrapped packages including tins, packets, treats and juice.
