Chinese New Year marked with dragon masks and paper chains at High Peak Lodge

Residents were given hand-held dragon masks and staff members performed a festive dance to celebrate Chinese New Year at High Peak Lodge Residential and Nursing Home in Leigh.

Our home was decorated with home-made paper chains and lanterns in beautiful colours for the special afternoon of fun and activities.

Other recent events have included sensory sessions in which our residents handle mystery objects hidden in a box, and guess what they are.

Our activities co-ordinator, Leanne, said: “We have some new residents including people who have Alzheimers and our sensory get-togethers – featuring music as well as touch-based activities – have been very popular.

“Things to feel and hold have included bean bags, cotton reels, buttons and marbles – anything that’s familiar and has an interesting texture.”
