Flashback Time for Qualia Homes

Three Qualia care homes were transformed with music and fashion from decades gone by, as residents and staff took part in Flashback events to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Downshaw Lodge Care Home had a great afternoon, reminiscing about football legends of the 50s and 60s. Family and friends stopped by for tea and cakes and to see sporting memorabilia on display.

At Washington Lodge, Jade the activities co-ordinator dressed as Marilyn Monroe as part of a 1950s diner theme. Residents spent the day dancing and singing along to a visiting vocalist who performed hits from the era.

Meanwhile at Millfield Care Home, the reception area was decorated as a ‘milkshake shack’ selling donuts and cakes as well as the tasty drinks. Residents voted the staff from Hopwood Unit as the best-dressed and presented them with a tub of chocolates to share.

Staff members Anne and Elaine – who work in the laundry and are also known as Double Trouble – provided the entertainment after lunch, and residents enjoyed singing, dancing and playing instruments to hits from the 50s and 60s.

The activities raised £150 in total for the Alzheimer’s Society.
