Gilwood Lodge residents take a trip to the cinema

The Odeon cinema in Blackpool recently invited the staff and residents of Gilwood Lodge to attend the dementia-friendly showing of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – and what a great time they all had!

The trip was organised by our activities co-ordinator Jill who, along with some of the residents, and Jenny – one of our carers – made a jolly musical afternoon of it.

But before heading to the pictures, they popped into a local café for a spot of lunch – including a mince pie and hot chocolate treat!

On arrival at the cinema, they purchased popcorn and slushies for the showing, then armed with their snacks they took their seats and eagerly waited for the film to start.

Commenting on the day out, Gill, said: “We all thoroughly enjoyed it! We got taxis to and from the venue – and the drivers were wearing festive hats, so we all had a laugh too.

“A real highlight was when there was a break in the middle of the film and we all started singing ‘We Will Rock You’, and clapping – the rest of the audience joined in with us and that was lovely!”
