Rats and rabbits make friends at Downshaw Lodge

Volunteers brought rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and a King Charles Spaniel puppy along to Downshaw Lodge in Ashton-Under-Lyne to meet residents.

Handlers from Dunkinfield organisation Noah’s ART visit us regularly – and our residents always look forward to the opportunity to pet, cuddle and feed the animals.

This time, the rats were the stars of the show as residents gave them pieces of cucumber and carrot to eat and stroked their soft fur. They also enjoyed seeing the puppy perform tricks and receive treats.

Interacting with the animals often brings back memories for residents about times when they had pets in the family home.
