Residents and colleagues at St Mark’s Care Home, in Stockton-on-Tees, have been painting ceramic pots for their garden, as part of Qualia’s initiative to ‘get crafting’.
Our activities co-ordinator, Pat, brought in little pottery watering cans, cars, and other items for our residents to adorn, with specialist porcelain paints and pens.
The decorated pots are now being planted as part of a spring and summer display that we hope will wow the judges of Qualia in Bloom.
Pat said: “As well as the painting, some of our residents have been busy planting seeds in pots, including sunflowers.
“Not even cold and drizzly weather has stopped us – we’ve simply brought our compost and equipment inside. As we have a laminate floor, indoor gardening doesn’t make too much mess!”
In other news, St Mark’s has been celebrating a string of birthdays over the past few weeks. Among the residents notching up another year have included Joan, who turned 85, and Pamela, aged 83.
Our activities co-ordinator, Pat, said: “We love to make birthdays special here. We always hold a party, inviting family and friends along, complete with a cake.”View more updates from St Mark's
