Residents at St Mary’s have well and truly stepped into Christmas

Residents at St Mary’s Nursing Home in Moston, Manchester, are feeling very festive due to the jam-packed schedule, organised by activity co-ordinators, Norma and Denise.

Where to begin… from Christmas carols and baking, to joyful sing-alongs, the residents at St Mary’s have been having a yuletide ball over the past week.

The merriments began when 10 of our staff and residents headed to the Boat and Horses – one of the cosy pubs in the local area – for a delicious Christmas dinner, with all the trimmings!

The fun didn’t stop there though, as the day after, 20 children from St Mary’s School came to sing carols in the afternoon, followed by another music service led by the local Scouts and Beavers in the evening. The staff and residents had even baked some butterfly buns and iced cakes for the occasion!

Our activities co-ordinator, Julie, said: “We’ve been so busy organising lots of Christmassy events, and a real highlight was seeing the residents’ face light up when children came in to sing carols. They really enjoyed joining in the singing and chatting with the children, and they loved receiving a big festive card from all the pupils.”

With Christmas afternoon tea and a mince pies and mulled wine night in the pipeline, we’ve got another busy few weeks ahead!
