Residents of Gilwood Lodge in Blackpool went to see a world-famous attraction on their own doorstep – the Blackpool illuminations.
They enjoyed the six miles of dazzling displays, made up of more than a million bulbs, from the comfort of their bus – eating fish and chips as they travelled the length of the Promenade.
The illuminations were a highlight of the home’s autumn programme of events including armchair aerobics and musical bingo.
Our residents, who all have a dementia diagnosis, love to take part in activities that feature music. Recent visiting entertainers have included Dave Dare, who sings Rat Pack classics, and Two’s Company, performing wartime songs by the likes of Vera Lynn.View more updates from Gilwood Lodge
