Residents and relatives at Washington Lodge Nursing Home are celebrating their success in Qualia Care’s annual gardening competition.
Qualia in Bloom allows the company’s green fingered residents, relatives, helpers and staff to show off their skills and compete for the annual trophy as well as £250 in gardening vouchers. Aided by a fantastic summer, Washington Lodge has created a beautiful courtyard garden which allows residents safe access to an area with beautiful plants, shaded seating and sensory areas. There is even a herb garden and produce finds its way to the home’s dining table.
A celebration party was held on 20 September at which Qualia’s Managing Director Phil Whitaker presented the home with the Qualia in Bloom trophy and volunteers Marjorie, Jean and Laura with flowers to thank them for their fantastic work in the garden.
Phil said, “At Qualia we understand the importance of the great outdoors in both providing enjoyment and supporting good health. We are therefore delighted to recognise the great work in our gardens with an annual prize. I have had the pleasure of seeing some fantastic gardens throughout our homes this year but Washington Lodge was the best. Everybody at the home should be proud of their support to this wonderful garden.”
Home manager, June Smith added, “I couldn’t be more proud of the work everybody has contributed to developing and maintaining this wonderful garden. Marjorie, Jean and Laura have been a great support to the home and are now helping us with plans to keep the garden colourful all winter. We are delighted to win this trophy and we will be using the vouchers to help us retain our crown next year”.View more updates from Washington Lodge
