Residents at Sandycroft Nursing Home, Blackpool, have been enjoying some very professional bingo sessions.
One of our residents, Jean, used to be a bingo caller on Blackpool promenade – and she still loves to call the numbers, as well as win our prizes!
Jean celebrated her 82nd birthday so we had cake and a buffet to celebrate. Our activities co-ordinator, Marlene, said: “We all love a game of bingo here. Our winners shout ‘bingo, by jingo!’. Having Jean here, in the role she knows so well from her working life, is fantastic!”
In other news, we have been making our own sandwich wraps, and choosing our favourite fillings. We are also planning a takeaway from Kentucky Fried Chicken one day soon.
Our residents have been keeping fit and active with pre-lunch chair exercises led by Marlene. She explained: “It’s easier to do the moves while sitting on a dining chair, or in a wheelchair, rather than on a recliner, so when we’re getting ready for lunch it’s the perfect opportunity. I put the music on and away we go!”
Another developing interest among some of our residents is making pencil drawings of big cats such as panthers and tigers. We trace the outlines and fill in the details – with some super results.View more updates from Sandycroft
