Birchley Hall residents get ready for Halloween

Residents and colleagues at Birchley Hall Care Home in Billinge, St Helens, are preparing for a grand Halloween party.

We are making bunting and streamers to decorate our lounge – as well as posters to let everyone know about the gathering in the run-up.

We will also be baking and decorating spooky cakes and treats and digging out a soundtrack of ghoulish pop songs to play!

Our activities co-ordinator, Kathleen, said: “We’ve been making little witches’ hats to fix to special Halloween headbands. We can’t invite friends and family along like we would usually do when we have a party, but we’ll make sure we have a good time!”

In other news, we’ve been testing our general knowledge with regular quizzes. Kathleen is the question master. She makes sure that everyone taking part receives a prize, and that there are no winners or losers.

She said: “Our residents enjoy anything that makes them think. I’ve been having a quiz once a week but some of the ladies have asked me if we can do it more often, so I’m only too happy to oblige!”
