Downshaw residents go charity shopping

Residents of Downshaw Lodge Nursing Home in Ashton-under-Lyne have been busy going on one-to-one trips out with colleagues.

These have included meals at favourite local eateries – including the Dog and Partridge and our local Wetherspoon’s pub – and shopping.

Our activities co-ordinator and carer, Andrew, said: “We have some great charity shops nearby, including one across the road that raises money for the Willow Wood Hospice.

“Our residents love to shop for clothes, books and knick-knacks. As colleagues, we also check for items such as games that we can buy for everyone to enjoy – and add to our stock of resources at the home.”

In other news, we have been making beautiful Valentine’s cards adorned with hearts and sparkles, to sell to visitors. We are also planning a raffle for February 14.
