High Peak residents go to the bowling club

Residents and colleagues of High Peak Lodge Residential and Nursing Home in Leigh, Greater Manchester, have been enjoying regular trips out to our local bowling club.

We often walk and go by wheelchair to the nearby Leigh Bowling Club on the last Friday of the month when the staff there organise tea, biscuits and entertainments for groups from several local care homes.

Games of bingo, a raffle, singing and dancing are all part of the fun at this regular event. Our care team leader, Lorraine, said: “We love to go along to the club, enjoy the activities and meet new people.”

Back at the home, we’ve established a weekly karaoke club, using our own machine which connects to our TV. Family and friends are always invited to our singalongs – and we have ‘regulars’ who love to perform hits by Elvis, Tom Jones and The Carpenters.

Other events coming up include a Valentine’s lunch, a visit from a mobile ‘old school’ sweet shop and – on Shrove Tuesday – a pancake tossing competition.
