Singing and services at Sandycroft

Residents at Sandycroft Nursing Home in Blackpool have had a busy start to the new decade with bingo, quizzes, worship and live music!

The vicar and a group of congregation members from our local Church of England community are visiting once a month to lead a service, with singing as well as a sermon. Afterwards, they stay to chat and mingle.

In other news we have a programme of visiting vocalists lined up, starting with Tony Ford who performs hits of the 40s and 50s – including plenty of Elvis classics.

Our activities co-ordinator, Marlene, said: “We love to sing along and Tony does a lot of the residents’ favourites in his repertoire. We’ll also be welcoming back a very talented lady called Bev who sang for us last year.

“The residents had a vote and were keen to see her return! Bev does some dancing in her act and gives out prizes – she’s very popular! In addition to events like these we’re holding regular bingo sessions and quizzes to help keep everyone interested and active.”
