Snooker is the latest craze at Duchess Gardens

Residents of Duchess Gardens Care Centre in Bingley, West Yorkshire, have been enjoying games of snooker thanks to a donated table.

The snooker table has been set up in our activity room and it’s creating a real buzz among our men – though we are trying to encourage the ladies to have a go, too!

Our activities co-ordinator, Paul, said: “I don’t really know the rules of snooker so our residents have been teaching me! They absolutely love playing and can be very competitive!”

We’ve also been enjoying some real feasts at a string of get-togethers. We made sure our resident Khurshid, celebrated her 55th birthday in style – with a teatime takeaway of Indian curries and other delights.

Paul said: “Khurshid encouraged some of our other residents to try new dishes that they’d never tasted before and we all had a great time. We also presented her with a beautiful cake, complete with candles to blow out.”

In other news, a group of 11 of us went out for a traditional roast dinner at our local Toby Carvery – a favourite destination among many residents. Our next celebration food will be for St Patrick’s Day.
