Manager at St Mark's
I always wanted to go into the caring profession. I studied nursing at college – before I got married and became a mother – and I qualified as a nurse in 2011 when my children were older.
For six years, I was a district nurse, travelling around my home town of Stockton-on-Tees. During that time, I covered a portfolio of several care homes, developing a keen interest and passion for working with older people.
I also learned how different homes operate, which gave me a great deal of experience that I could bring to St Mark’s Care Home. I have worked here since July 2016. I started as a lead nurse, and quickly became deputy manager, then manager.
When I’m not at work, I love to spend time with my family. I have four grown-up children and five grandchildren. I am also currently working towards my NVQ Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care – so that keeps me very busy!

The home and staff are excellent. Staff are caring and attentive. Food is good and plentiful. The home is well looked after and is nice and clean.- Son of Resident
I cannot praise highly enough the care, consideration and helpfulness with which all of the staff of the care home provides.
Sometimes, on very challenging and difficult occasions where I have marked good instead of excellent reason being, I have no experience of any other similar facility so nothing with which to make a comparison.- Wife of Resident
