Colleagues and residents at Downshaw Lodge Care Home in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, got together to say farewell to John, who is returning to live independently after a stay with us.
John, whose health has improved – meaning he can reside at home again with assistance from carers – is also taking Downshaw’s cat with him!
Senior carer, Andrew, said: “John loves our cat, Tilly, and Tilly loves John. During his time with us, he’s been the main one to look after Tilly, so it’s lovely that they will continue to be together.
“We bought John chocolates and a card – and we all went outside to wave him and Tilly off when they left.”
In other news, some residents have been enjoying hand massages and manicures from our activities co-ordinator, Adriana, and taking part in card games. Our trolley-based tuck shop is still popular – selling sweets, fizzy drinks and toiletries.
