January has been a fantastic month at Downshaw Lodge in Ashton under Lyne, filled with celebration, friendship and meaningful moments as we welcomed the New Year together.
Residents kicked off the year with a lively and festive New Year’s Eve party. The lounge was filled with music, laughter and plenty of sparkle as everyone enjoyed karaoke, a delicious buffet and the excitement of party poppers throughout the evening.
The celebrations built up to an enthusiastic countdown to midnight, with everyone sharing in the joy of welcoming 2026 together. It was a wonderful way to start the year - full of positivity, connection and plenty of smiles.
January also brought a lovely change of scenery as residents enjoyed a meal out at The Dog and Pheasant pub. The outing provided a relaxed and welcoming setting where everyone could enjoy good food and even better company.
Spending time together outside the home is always special as it offers an opportunity to socialise, enjoy new surroundings and create shared experiences, which is something we always encourage as part of life at Downshaw Lodge.
Some very special birthdays we also marked this month. Barry and Fred were both celebrated with a cheerful get-together, complete with birthday treats, balloons and lots of laughter.
The activities team has been busy working on personalised memory boxes for residents’ rooms. Each box includes meaningful photographs and treasured reminders that reflect the individual’s life story, hobbies and proud moments. It’s a small touch that makes a big difference, supporting wellbeing and helping residents feel truly at home.
As we move further into 2026, there will be many more outings, celebrations and special moments at Downshaw Lodge.
