Games galore at Downshaw Lodge

Residents and colleagues at Downshaw Lodge Care Home in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, have been busy participating in a variety of games and activities.

These have included playing draughts and dominoes, as well as getting involved with indoor archery.

Our activities co-ordinator, Andrew, said: “All the residents love the range of activities on offer – but they also enjoy settling down to watch football – or the horse racing!”

We regularly listen to music from the 50s and 60s, and a particular favourite of ours is The Beatles. We’ve also been spending time in the garden – even if it’s raining, as we have a gazebo – and enjoying treats from the tuck shop too.

In other news, one of the lounges has been turned into an old-fashioned bar, called ‘The Old Lodge Inn’ – with pub light fittings, and walls cladded with pallets, we are now planning an official open day!
