Residents help to revamp menus at Gilwood Lodge

Residents at Gilwood Lodge Nursing Home, Blackpool, took part in a survey about their favourite foods to help kitchen colleagues revamp our menus.

Many residents detailed what they did – and didn’t – like to eat, so that we could update our mealtime choices and make sure they are as tempting as possible!

In other news, residents have been enjoying ‘family FaceTime’ in which they can chat to relatives and friends via video calls.

Our activities co-ordinator, Emma, said: “Since we have been back in lockdown, we cannot have socially distanced visits at our home.

“However, in some ways, a catch-up over FaceTime is better because residents and their loved ones can share their news without masks – which is great, as these can sometimes make speech harder to understand and expressions more difficult to read.”

Several residents have had their hair done by Emma and colleagues in our upstairs salon lately. Movie days with screenings of classic musicals such as Grease, as well as favourite rom coms, are also proving popular.
