COVID-19 STATEMENT

At Qualia Care, our primary concern is for the health and wellbeing of our residents. With this in mind, we are limiting visitors to our homes to essential personnel only. We are still welcoming new residents but have adapted the way we work to ensure we are following government guidance. As ever our friendly teams at each of our care homes are always happy to help and we invite you to get in touch.

Millfield Nursing Home prides itself on the warmth of its welcome and the high standards of its care, delivered in comfortable, modern surroundings across four houses.

Surrounded by beautiful landscaped grounds with comfortable seating areas, raised flowerbeds and a tranquil sensory garden, our attractive, well-furnished en-suite rooms provide residents with clean and comfortable personal spaces.

Many of our rooms have lovely garden views, while some on the ground floor have patio windows.

Our Services

We provide a wide range of care services and a commitment to deliver the high standards of considerate, effective care we would expect for ourselves or a loved one.

We take time to get to know each resident and our dedicated nurses creating individual care plans that suit their specific needs and ensure they retain as much independence as possible.

We deliver nursing care for people who need 24-hour personal support and for those with a condition that requires specialised nursing care, convalescence care for people recovering from surgery or illness, as well as kind and respectful palliative care.

Residential care is available for people who find it difficult to cope at home without assistance, including people living with dementia or a related condition.

Our young physically disabled unit offers specialist facilities and care for a wide range of disabilities and needs.

We also provide expert 24-hour care for people with Huntington’s and Parkinson’s, delivering personal care and daily activities to stimulate both the mind and body.

Our chefs take pride in getting to know the likes and dislikes of our residents and can cater to dietary and cultural needs. We serve a varied menu of delicious and nutritious home-cooked food made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

We want our residents to lead as full and active a life as possible – and aim to find something fun and engaging for everyone – so a varied and interesting activity programme is at the heart of the care we provide.

Manager at Millfield

I started my nursing training in 1986 and have worked in the care sector ever since, becoming the manager at Millfield in 2018.

I always wanted to do something medical and to teach, and I am extremely lucky to have had a career in which I have been able to fulfil both of my ambitions. I have been a nurse in both the NHS and the private sectors and have lectured in the adult education sector.

My personal motto is: “Treat others how you wish to be treated yourself”. It is of the utmost importance that our residents are always treated with respect and dignity, and that they enjoy an enriching and fulfilling experience at Millfield.

I am married with two grown-up children and love to read, cycle and walk my dog. I am also a trustee of a local charity that runs six nurseries.

An Ideal Location

Our home is conveniently located in a residential area of Heywood, close to local shops, amenities and the pleasant green space of Queen’s Park, which was recently voted the nation’s favourite park.

Millfield is on a local bus route and is just a short drive from the M62 and M66 motorways. We are nine miles north of Manchester city centre, yet close to areas of outstanding natural beauty such Cheesden Valley and the rolling hills and moors of the Pennines.

My family chose Millfield for my Grandma because it is a beautiful home. The rooms are en-suite and are decorated to a high standard. Food is amazing, the staff are kind and the management really care. I am so pleased that with the help of social services, my Grandma now has such an amazing home. Care in the community was not working... Millfield care is, as she is happy!

- Grand-Daughter Of Resident

Millfield is a purpose built residential home that is well managed and run to provide as good an environment for frail older people as possible. The staff know each of the residents as individuals and do their best to cater to my mother's requirements. They are flexible in their approach to allow my mother to still have some control over her life. I have nothing but praise for their caring and professionalism.

- Son Of Resident

The person I care for and visit regularly has been happy and comfortable at Millfield Care Home. The staff have been excellent in their treatment of her and her personal care has been very good. One thing I would ask for is that she be given a drink more frequently.

- Friend Of Resident

My mother is happy here and that says it all. Happy with her carers and happy with her care. Happy with her room, warmth and security. Because she is happy, so am I. When taking into account that I used to worry about her living as I do on the continent. The staff constantly keep me informed.

- Son Of Resident

My relative has lived on Hopwood unit for nearly a year now. In the past I have been concerned that there were no staff 'about'. I am so pleased the staff now occupy a nursing station, opposite the buzzer panel. I feel more assured that they are attentive to what is happening. My grandma says the buzzer is answered more quickly. Thank You to the home for realising a change was needed to make a difference.
