VE day celebrations at Walton Manor

Residents and colleagues of Walton Manor Residential and Nursing Home in Liverpool enjoyed VE Day celebrations with a range of activities.

We made plenty of decorations to brighten up our home – including flags that we coloured in, and pictures of spitfires which are displayed on the walls.

Our activities co-ordinator, Marina, said: “The ladies all wore red, white and blue items in their hair – including vibrant flowers. And all the residents enjoyed treats from our VE Day trolley – which included sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and a selection of cakes.”

We also enjoyed listening to wartime music and singing along to some of the best-known anthems.

Every day, residents are engaged in interesting and varied activities in their rooms – such doing a wordsearch, reading the paper or even watching an old football game!

In other news, we have been wrapping coloured wool around cardboard hearts to make perfect backdrops for our photographs, for displaying on our walls and windows, and sending to family members.
